Modellers’ Modelling sand: Dirt and gravel

Take diorama creation to the highest level. Matte, made to scale, with a soft gray hue. Dirt roads:

• Unlike ready-made paste, which creates a flat surface, dry gravel or sand allows you to get an authentic, loose, and grainy texture on the terrain; take advantage of this! The product comes in a primary gray gravel color, but you can add pigments from our range. You can find suggestions by expanding the list at the very bottom. Buying this one product, you can compose a road in any shade.
• Use our Solution – a medium for sands and pigments – to adhere to the sands and gravel. The best method is to give a layer of Solution to a base made of Modeling Clay or carved from a piece of XPS Styrofoam, which is best painted black or a similar shade to what you want. You can also mix the Solution with pigment as a base layer under the gravel. Sprinkle and form a gravel layer, then sprinkle the Solution where the “dry spots” are visible.
• You can use a strainer to separate the smaller fractions as a base and pile the stones more on the sides and in the middle of the road, as they naturally break down on the road, torn up by vehicles.
• You can mix with other Modellers World sands to get a variety of terrain.
• Once dry, you can modulate the ground with color by rubbing in pigments or painting and shading with Weathering Paints.
